Compact headlamp for runners and campers

The Kaito MX20B weighs 3.2 oz with three AAA batteries included and delivers 165 lumen through a single white LED plus two red LEDs. A 45° tiltable body and one glove-friendly button cycle through seven modes including SOS and strobe. The elastic headband adjusts for adults and children alike.

IPX5 rating limits submersion use

The light resists splashing or spraying water from any angle but is not rated for immersion. Battery life reaches 45 hours on the included alkaline cells, after which replacement AAA batteries are required. No USB charging port is present, so extended trips demand spare cells.

Replaces heavier or single-colour lights

Users moving up from basic 160 lumen models gain a red-light option for night-vision preservation and a longer 45-hour runtime. The jump is worth it when weight savings of 3.2 oz versus 5.9 oz alternatives matter on multi-day hikes, but not for buyers who need rechargeable convenience or 1200 lumen output.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the MX20B or one of the rechargeable MX models?

The MX20B runs on three included AAA batteries and delivers up to 45 hours of run-time, while the rechargeable MX10, MX200 and MX1200 offer 30, 40 and 26 hours respectively.

What does the 165 lumen rating mean when I am on a trail at night?

At 165 lumens the beam reaches 165 feet, giving enough white light to navigate paths and a red mode that preserves night vision for map reading.

How does the IPX5 rating limit where I can use this headlamp?

IPX5 means the light withstands splashing or spraying water from any angle, so it handles rain and sweat but is not rated for submersion.
