Railway Empire 2 DLC for PC Steam

Railway Empire 2 – Steel Dragons is a strategy DLC from Kalypso Media that adds a Chinese campaign to the base game. Players expand a rail network across China alongside historical figure Zhan Tianyou. The product is a Steam code delivered digitally and requires the base game to play.

Steam activation and base game dependency

The downloadable code activates on Steam in supported regions only; several countries are blocked. A 64-bit Windows system and a Steam account are mandatory for installation. Without the base game Railway Empire 2 already owned on the same Steam account, the DLC cannot be launched.

Sustained play across a large campaign map

The DLC extends playtime with a full Chinese map stretching from the East China Sea to western mountains. Session length grows as the network connects more cities and industries. Performance scales with the base game engine rather than introducing new technical demands.

Questions about this item

How much time will I spend on the October 28, 2025 release day before I can start building tracks in China?

The DLC unlocks on Steam at launch on October 28, 2025; after activation the download size and your connection speed determine how quickly you can enter the Middle Kingdom campaign.

Will my laptop fan spin loudly while I manage the Yellow River routes for hours?

The DLC inherits the base game’s system requirements, so sustained play will draw the same power and produce the same heat as Railway Empire 2 itself on your 64-bit Windows PC.

Which base game must already sit in my Steam library for this code to work?

You need Railway Empire 2 on Steam; the 86079 code only adds the Steel Dragons expansion to that existing installation.
