Expansion for Turn-Based Strategy

Heretek is a downloadable expansion for Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus, a tactical turn-based strategy game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. It adds a new narrative campaign written by Ben Counter that explores internal conflict within the Adeptus Mechanicus. The DLC introduces the Xenarite discipline focused on xenotech usage. Players face corrupted Tech-Priests while battling Necron forces.

Requires Base Game and Steam

This content requires the base game Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus on Steam to function. It is delivered as a Steam online game code that activates through a Steam account. No physical media is included. The expansion integrates directly with the existing installation. A 64-bit processor and operating system are required to run the base title and this additional content.

Lightweight Digital Addition

As a downloadable add-on, Heretek adds negligible storage and memory overhead to the base game installation. It places no additional demands on graphics hardware or cooling systems beyond the original system requirements. Power draw and thermals remain unchanged from running the core game. The expansion runs silently in the background as game data.

Questions about this item

How does the new Xenarite discipline change late-game resource management?

The Xenarite discipline adds xenotech abilities and augments that alter Tech-Priest customisation, giving different tactical options during the Ark Mechanicus missions.

Does the DLC add any background processes that increase CPU load during long sessions?

No, the expansion runs on the same 64-bit engine as the base game and introduces no extra background tasks that would raise sustained processor usage.

Which base game version must already be installed on Steam for the Heretek code to activate?

You need Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus on Steam; the DLC key only works when that base title is present in the same Steam library.
