Two-battery kit for Handycam camcorders

This Kastar set supplies two lithium-ion NP-FP50/51 cells and a foldable-pin AC wall charger. Each battery delivers 7.4 V and 1200 mAh for 8.88 Wh of capacity. The pack covers a long list of Sony DCR-DVD, DCR-HC, DCR-SR and HDR-HC models. It is not suited for cameras that require higher-voltage packs or proprietary communication chips.

Steady output during extended recording

The charger feeds a constant 8.4 V at 600 mA, so cells recharge at a moderate rate rather than a rapid burst. Red and green LEDs show charging status without needing a display. Because the supply accepts 100-240 V AC, voltage sag during long sessions is handled by the wall circuit, not the batteries. Users who need continuous power for hours without swapping cells should consider a higher-capacity alternative.

Simple plug-in installation

The fold-flat pins let the charger sit flush against outlets or power strips, reducing the chance of accidental disconnection. No firmware updates or pairing steps are required; insert a battery and the LED turns red. The main friction point is verifying the exact model number on the camcorder label, as several similar-looking NP-F series packs exist.

Questions about this item

Does the charger get hot or make noise when left plugged in all day?

The charger accepts AC 100–240 V and outputs DC 8.4 V at 600 mA with a simple LED indicator; no fan or active cooling is mentioned.

What must I already own to use these NP-FP50/51 batteries?

A Sony camcorder or camera that accepts NP-FP30, NP-FP50, NP-FP51, NP-FP60, NP-FP70, NP-FP71, NP-FP90 or NP-FP91 batteries — for example a DCR-HC26, DCR-HC30 or HDR-HC3.

Will the batteries work in my older DCR-HC20 or DCR-DVD103?

Yes — both models appear in the compatibility list, so the 7.4 V 1200 mAh packs can replace the original NP-FP50/51 cells in those units.
