Three-battery pack with dual USB charger

This set supplies three lithium-ion BP-718 cells plus a Kastar LTD2 charger that accepts Micro-USB or Type-C input. Each cell delivers 3.7 volts and 1900 milliampere-hours for a total of 7.1 watt-hours. The kit replaces Canon BP-708, BP-709, BP-718, BP-727 and US 6055B002 batteries for a wide range of VIXIA and LEGRIA camcorders. Photographers and videographers who need spare power for long shoots can carry all three cells in one compact package.

Charger limited to two simultaneous cells

The LTD2 unit charges two batteries at once at 800 milliampere-hours each, or a single cell at the same rate. Input is rated at 5 volts and 2 to 3 amperes for a maximum of 15 watts, so any standard USB power source can drive it. An LCD panel shows real-time charging status and remaining capacity for both slots. Users who must recharge three or more depleted packs at the same time will need an additional charger.

1900 milliampere-hour capacity per cell

Each BP-718 battery stores 1900 milliampere-hours at 3.7 volts, which determines how long a compatible camcorder can record before a swap is required. The figure is fixed by the cell chemistry and cannot be altered by the charger. Buyers who need longer run-times per battery must select a higher-capacity alternative if one exists for their camera model.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the BP-718 1900 mAh pack or a higher-capacity option for my VIXIA HF R800?

The pack supplies three BP-718 cells at 1900 mAh and 7.1 Wh each; no higher-capacity version is listed for this kit.

What does the 1900 mAh rating actually deliver when I'm recording with a VIXIA HF R800?

Each 3.7 V, 7.1 Wh cell powers compatible VIXIA and LEGRIA models; run time depends on the camcorder's draw, not the charger.

How fast will the LTD2 charger refill two BP-718 batteries over USB-C?

The charger outputs 8.4 V at 800 mA per slot, so two batteries charge simultaneously from a 5 V 2–3 A USB source.
