Replacement BP-511/BP-511A power kit

This Kastar set includes four 2600mAh lithium-ion batteries rated at 7.4V and 19.24Wh, plus an LTD2 dual-slot USB charger. It is designed for photographers and videographers who use Canon EOS DSLRs, PowerShot G-series models or compatible camcorders that accept BP-511, BP-511A, BP-512, BP-514, BP-522 or BP-535 cells.

Check camera and original charger compatibility

Verify that your camera or camcorder appears in the supported model list, which covers EOS bodies from the D30 through the 50D as well as numerous PowerShot, Optura, ZR, MV, MVX, FV and IXY devices. Ensure your original charger is a Canon CB-5L or CG-580, because the Kastar charger replaces those specific units. Confirm you have a USB power source able to supply 5V at 2A to 3A for the micro-USB or Type-C input.

Compact charger with interchangeable plates

The LTD2 charger measures 5 by 3 by 3 inches and accepts swappable plates so it can handle other battery types beyond the included BP-511/BP-511A cells. Its LCD shows charging progress and capacity for each slot while delivering 8.4V at 800mA per channel when two batteries are charged together. A micro-USB cable is supplied for immediate connection to standard USB power adapters or power banks.

Questions about this item

Does the pack include everything needed to charge the four batteries, or must I buy a power adapter separately?

The kit supplies one LTD2 dual charger with Micro-USB and Type-C inputs plus a Micro-USB cable; a 5 V 2-3 A USB power adapter is not included.

Which battery version suits a Canon EOS 5D that originally used a BP-511A?

The four 7.4 V 2600 mAh lithium-ion cells are direct replacements for BP-511 and BP-511A packs used in the EOS 5D.

How long does the LCD charger take to replenish two flat 2600 mAh batteries at its 800 mA dual output?

At 800 mA per slot the charger needs roughly three to four hours to bring two empty packs to full capacity.
