Four-battery kit with foldable wall charger

This Kastar kit supplies four lithium-ion batteries and a compact AC wall charger for Sony Handycam and HDR camcorders. Each cell delivers 7.4 volts and 1200 milliampere-hours for 8.88 watt-hours of capacity. The foldable flat plug keeps the charger slim for travel bags. Videographers who need multiple spares for long shoots can swap batteries without hunting for outlets.

Cool charging with simple status lights

The charger accepts 100 to 240 volt input at 50 to 60 hertz and outputs 8.4 volts at 600 milliamps. A red LED shows active charging and a green LED signals standby or full charge. No fan is fitted so operation stays silent. The lithium-ion chemistry avoids memory effect and holds charge well between sessions.

Replaces single OEM packs for multi-camera owners

Users moving up from one original battery gain three extra cells and a dedicated charger that works worldwide. The jump makes sense when a day of recording exceeds one pack or when a second camcorder shares the same battery family. Shooters who only ever film short clips indoors will not need the extra capacity.

Questions about this item

How do I install the Kastar NP-FP50/FP51 batteries in my Sony camcorder, and what step is often missed?

Slide each 7.4 V 1200 mAh pack into the battery compartment until the latch clicks; the step users skip is fully seating the pack so the contacts align before closing the door.

What maintenance will the four Li-Ion batteries and the AC wall charger need over time?

Store the 8.88 Wh cells at roughly half charge if unused for weeks, recharge every few months to avoid deep discharge, and keep the foldable-plug charger's vents clear of dust.

What limit appears first during continuous recording with these 1200 mAh batteries?

The 8.88 Wh capacity typically runs out before the charger's 600 mA output or the camcorder's thermal limits become a factor.
