Quadruple charger for Samsung BP-70A batteries

The Kastar BP-70A charger accepts four Samsung BP-70A type batteries simultaneously. It is designed for photographers who use compatible Samsung compact cameras such as the ST and PL series. The unit ships with a USB Type-C cable and offers both Micro-USB and Type-C input ports for flexible power sources.

Thermals noise and power draw

The charger operates from a 5 V 2–3 A supply rated at 15 W. It delivers 4.2 V at 800 mA when one or two batteries are inserted and 500 mA per slot when three or four are charging. An intelligent display shows charging status and battery capacity. No active cooling is mentioned in the specifications.

Behaviour under sustained load

When all four slots are occupied the output drops to 500 mA per channel, extending the total charge cycle compared with a two-battery load. The charger is not suitable for users who need rapid sequential charging of large battery banks. It also cannot charge battery types other than the listed BP-70A compatible models.

Questions about this item

How do I install the BP-70A charger and which step is often missed?

Connect the supplied Type-C cable to the charger's Type-C or Micro-USB input, plug into a 5 V 2–3 A source, then insert up to four BP-70A batteries; the step often missed is ensuring each battery clicks fully into its plate so the intelligent display can read capacity.

What maintenance or replacement will the BP-70A need later?

The charger itself has no user-serviceable parts; over time the interchangeable battery plates may wear from repeated swaps, and the Type-C cable can fray, so keep spare plates and a replacement cable handy.

What limit appears first during sustained charging of four batteries on the BP-70A?

When three or four BP-70A batteries are loaded the output drops to 500 mA per slot, so total charge time lengthens noticeably compared with one or two batteries at 800 mA each.
