Kastar BP-718 replacement battery and dual charger

The kit includes one 1900mAh lithium-ion cell rated at 3.7V and 7.1Wh, plus an LTD2 charger that accepts two batteries simultaneously. It targets owners of compatible Canon VIXIA and LEGRIA camcorders who need a spare power source and a flexible way to replenish it.

Sustained charging behaviour

The charger delivers 8.4V at 800mA per slot whether one or two packs are inserted, so the current does not drop when both bays are occupied. An integrated LCD shows real-time capacity for each cell, letting the user monitor progress during extended top-ups without guesswork.

Installation and common issues

Swapping the battery in the camcorder is a simple latch operation, and the charger connects via Micro-USB or Type-C using the supplied cable. The only notable limitation is that the kit contains a single battery, so users who want to charge two packs at once must obtain a second BP-718 separately.

Questions about this item

How hot or noisy does the LTD2 charger get when running all day?

The charger has no fan and draws 15 W maximum, so it stays cool and silent during extended use.

What power source do I need to run the LTD2 charger?

Any 5 V USB supply that can deliver 2–3 A — a phone charger, power bank or laptop port with Micro-USB or Type-C input works.

Will the BP-718 battery work in my older Canon VIXIA HF R30?

Yes — the BP-718 replaces the BP-709, BP-718 and BP-727 cells used in the HF R30 and many other VIXIA and LEGRIA models.
