Replacement batteries for Canon camcorders

This two-pack of Kastar BP-718 lithium-ion cells replaces the Canon BP-718, BP-709 and BP-727 packs used across the VIXIA HF and LEGRIA HF ranges. Each unit delivers 3.7 volts and 1900 milliampere-hours for extended recording sessions.

Capacity and compatibility

The 7.1 watt-hour rating is the single figure that determines whether the pack will fit your camera and meet its runtime needs; it matches the original Canon specification for the listed HF and LEGRIA models.

Safety circuits and thermal behaviour

Built-in protection guards against over-charge, over-discharge, over-voltage, over-current and over-heating during normal use. The cells meet UL1642 and CE safety standards, so operating temperatures and noise remain negligible in typical handheld recording.

Questions about this item

How long will the 1900 mAh capacity actually run my VIXIA HF R600?

The 1900 mAh lithium-ion cells deliver 7.1 Wh each, roughly doubling the runtime of the original BP-718 pack in compatible VIXIA and LEGRIA camcorders.

Does the BP-718 pack charge in the Canon CG-700 charger I already own?

Yes, the batteries are listed as compatible with the Canon CG-700 charger, so they will charge normally in that unit.

Will the 3 × 2 × 2 inch dimensions fit the battery compartment of my LEGRIA HF M36?

The pack matches the Canon BP-718 form factor, so it slides into the same compartment used by the VIXIA HF R600, R700, R800 and LEGRIA HF M36, M38, M46 models.
