Replacement power kit

This pack includes one lithium-ion cell rated at 3.7 volts and 7.1 watt-hours plus a matching AC wall charger. The charger accepts 100 to 240 volts at 50 to 60 hertz and delivers 4.2 volts at 600 milliamps. A foldable flat plug makes storage compact. LED indicators show red while charging and green when the cell is full or on standby.

For Canon VIXIA and LEGRIA owners

The battery replaces Canon BP-709, BP-718 and BP-727 cells and works with the CG-700 charger. It fits a long list of VIXIA models from HF R30 through HF R800 plus HF M and HF R series, and LEGRIA models from HF M36 through HF M306. Buyers who need a higher-capacity cell or a multi-bay charger should look elsewhere.

Deciding specification

The critical figure is the 7.1 watt-hour energy rating combined with the 4.2 volt 600 milliamp charge current; together they determine whether the kit matches the camcorder's original power envelope.

Questions about this item

Does the 3.7 V 1900 mAh battery generate noticeable heat or noise while powering the camcorder all day?

The lithium-ion cell runs silently and stays cool during normal use; the charger draws only 600 mA at 4.2 V, so heat output is minimal.

What must I already own for the Kastar BP718 pack to work with my camcorder?

You need a Canon VIXIA or LEGRIA model that accepts BP-709, BP-718 or BP-727 batteries — the charger plugs directly into 100-240 V AC mains.

Will the foldable-plug charger still charge my older BP-709 or BP-727 batteries?

Yes, the charger supports all three Canon battery types listed, so legacy packs charge at the same 4.2 V 600 mA rate.
