Kastar BP-827 battery and quadruple charger

This set includes one 2200 mAh lithium-ion battery and a compact charger that can handle up to four batteries at once. It is designed for owners of compatible Canon VIXIA camcorders who need spare power for long shoots. The charger accepts both Micro-USB and USB-C input, so it can be powered from common adapters or power banks. Users who need simultaneous charging for more than four batteries will need additional units.

Thermals noise and power draw

The charger operates from a 5 V input rated at 2 to 3 A, drawing up to 15 W from the source. It delivers 8.4 V at 800 mA when charging one or two batteries, and 500 mA per slot when three or four are inserted. No fan is mentioned, so operation is silent. The battery itself stores 22.2 Wh at 7.4 V. Buyers who require faster per-cell charging speeds will need a different solution.

Build quality and daily use

The charger features interchangeable plates to support different Canon battery models including BP-809, BP-819 and BP-827. An intelligent display shows charging status and remaining capacity for each slot. A USB-C cable is included in the package. The unit measures 3.5 by 2 by 2.5 inches. Photographers who need a charger with built-in AC prongs or vehicle adapter should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How do I install the BP-827 battery and charger, and what step is often missed?

Insert the BP-827 battery into the camera battery compartment until it clicks, then place up to four batteries onto the charger plates; connect the charger via Micro-USB or Type-C to a 5V 2-3A power source — the step often missed is ensuring each battery plate is correctly swapped for the BP-827 model before charging.

What maintenance or replacement will the BP-827 battery need later?

The 7.4V 2200mAh Li-Ion battery will gradually hold less charge over time; replace it when runtime drops below your needs — the charger plates can be swapped to match future Canon BP-809, BP-819 or BP-827 batteries.

What limit appears first when charging four BP-827 batteries continuously?

The charger outputs 500mA per slot when three or four batteries are charging, so sustained use is limited by the lower 500mA rate per battery rather than the 800mA single-slot rate.
