Dual-Slot Charger for Motorola Two-Way Radio

The Kastar LTD2 accepts two compatible lithium-ion packs simultaneously and draws power from any 5 V 2-3 A USB source. It supports a long list of Motorola battery models including 53615, HKNN4002 and PMNN4477 series used in TalkAbout radios from the T200 to the T92 H2O families. No battery is included in the pack.

Sustained Load Behaviour

Each bay delivers 8.4 V at 800 mA when charging a single battery and maintains that current per slot when both are occupied. The intelligent LCD shows real-time capacity and charging status so operators can monitor progress during extended field use. Micro-USB and Type-C inputs allow flexible power sourcing from vehicle adapters or power banks.

Installation and Common Issues

Simply insert each pack into a bay and connect the supplied Micro-USB cable to a suitable USB supply; no drivers or configuration are required. The charger fits only the listed Motorola battery form factors, so packs from other manufacturers or newer radio revisions will not seat correctly. Users must provide their own 5 V 2-3 A power adapter as none is bundled.

Questions about this item

Does the 800 mA dual output make the Kastar LTD2 run hot or noisy during long charging sessions?

The charger uses passive cooling with no fan, so it stays silent; the low 800 mA per slot keeps heat minimal even when both batteries charge overnight.

Which power source do I need to supply for the Micro-USB or Type-C inputs to reach the full 5 V 2–3 A rating?

Any standard USB wall adapter or power bank rated at 5 V 2 A or higher will drive both channels at 800 mA simultaneously.

Will this charger work with the original Motorola HKNN4002 packs I still use in my Talkabout T460 radios?

Yes — HKNN4002 is listed among the compatible battery models, so your existing packs fit and charge normally.
