Direct replacement kit

The Kastar MX990 pack supplies one AC wall charger and four lithium-ion batteries built to replace the original cells used in Icom IC-RX7, Baofeng UV-100, UV-200, UV-3R and UV-3R Mark 2 radios as well as Dynascan AD-09, Intek KT-950EE, LN-950 and IWATSU DC-PS8 units. Each cell delivers 3.7 V and 1900 mAh for 7.03 Wh of capacity.

Foldable plug charger

The wall adapter accepts 100-240 V AC at 50-60 Hz and outputs 4.2 V DC at 600 mA so it works on mains worldwide without a separate transformer. Its foldable flat pins store flush against the body, freeing bench space and letting the pack slip into a gear bag without snagging.

Steady trickle charge

Under continuous use the charger feeds a constant 600 mA current until the green LED shows full charge then holds the cells at standby voltage. The low-rate output avoids rapid heat build-up during long overnight cycles, though users needing faster turnaround or simultaneous multi-bay charging will find the single-channel design limiting.

Questions about this item

How long can the 1900 mAh batteries run before the 600 mA charger can catch up?

Each 3.7 V cell stores 7.03 Wh; the charger delivers 4.2 V at 600 mA so a full recharge takes roughly three hours per battery.

Does the AC wall charger stay cool and quiet when left plugged in all day?

The compact charger has no fan and only a red or green LED; it runs silently and its foldable flat plug keeps the brick close to the wall for minimal heat build-up.

Which radio models must I already own for these MX990 cells to fit and charge?

The pack replaces batteries for Icom IC-RX7, Baofeng UV-100, UV-200, UV-3R, UV-3R Mark 2, Dynascan AD-09, Intek KT-950EE, LN-950 and Iwatsu DC-PS8.
