Kastar MX990 AC Wall Charger

The Kastar MX990 is a compact AC wall charger built for Li-Ion batteries used in select two-way radios and handheld receivers. It replaces the original charger for Icom BP-244, Baofeng BP-244, Dynascan BP-244, Intek BP-244, IWATSU BP-244, Maas BP-244, SystemGear MLB-1000, Verizon BP-244 and Yaesu FNB-82LI packs. The unit accepts 100-240 V input at 50-60 Hz and delivers 4.2 V at 600 mA.

Foldable Plug and LED Status

A foldable flat plug allows the charger to lie flat in a bag or drawer without snagging. An LED shows red while charging and turns green when the battery reaches full charge or sits in standby. No battery is included in the pack, so the charger works only as a power source for compatible cells.

Questions about this item

Will the foldable plug on the MX990 charger wear out from daily folding?

The foldable flat plug is designed for repeated storage cycles, though Kastar does not publish a cycle rating.

What limits continuous charging on the MX990?

The charger outputs 4.2 V at 600 mA, so the current limit is reached first during sustained use.

How much heat or noise does the MX990 produce when left plugged in all day?

No fan is fitted; the unit runs silently and warms only slightly at the rated 600 mA output.
