NP-FH50 Li-Ion battery and AC charger kit

This kit supplies a 1200 mAh lithium-ion cell rated at 7.4 V and 8.88 Wh together with a compact wall charger. It replaces the original Sony NP-FH50 pack and works with a long list of Handycam, Cyber-shot and Alpha models. The foldable flat plug keeps the charger slim for travel bags.

Sustained shooting with the foldable charger

The charger accepts 100–240 V AC input and delivers 8.4 V at 600 mA, so a depleted cell reaches full charge in a steady cycle rather than a quick burst. A red LED shows active charging and a green LED signals standby or completion. The lithium-ion chemistry holds voltage consistently through long recording sessions.

Replaces ageing NP-FH30 and NP-FH40 packs

Owners of camcorders that shipped with lower-capacity NP-FH30 or NP-FH40 batteries gain noticeably longer run time per charge. The jump is worth it when a single charge must cover an entire event without swapping cells. Users needing multiple simultaneous batteries or higher-capacity NP-FH70 and NP-FH100 packs should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How warm does the Kastar NP-FH50 charger get when left plugged in all day?

The charger runs from 100–240 V AC and outputs 8.4 V at 600 mA; its foldable flat plug keeps the brick close to the wall so heat dissipates into open air rather than a crowded power strip.

What camera must I already own for this NP-FH50 battery to work?

The battery fits Sony Handycam models such as DCR-HC32, DCR-HC35, DCR-HC36, DCR-HC37, DCR-HC38, DCR-HC39, DCR-HC40, DCR-HC41, DCR-HC42, DCR-HC44, DCR-HC45, DCR-HC46 and DCR-HC47, plus Cyber-shot DSC-HX1, DSC-HX100, HX100V, DSC-HX200 and HX200V, and Alpha DSLR-A230, DSLR-A290, DSLR-A330, DSLR-A380 and DSLR-A390.

Will the Kastar charger still charge my older NP-FH30 or NP-FH40 packs?

Yes — the charger is listed as compatible with NP-FH30, NP-FH40, NP-FH50, NP-FH70 and NP-FH100 batteries, so your existing packs will charge normally.
