Three-battery lithium-ion pack

This Kastar NP-FM500H set supplies three 7.4 V 2400 mAh lithium-ion cells that replace the Sony NP-FM500H battery. Each cell stores 17.76 Wh and measures 2.2 by 3 by 1.6 inches. The pack targets photographers who own compatible Alpha or A-mount bodies and want spare power for long sessions.

Suits Alpha 57 58 65 68 77 owners.

The batteries fit Sony Alpha 57, 58, 65, 68 and 77 series cameras plus numerous A-mount models from the A200 through A900 lines. They also work with the Sony BC-VM10 and AC-SQ950 chargers. Photographers who need extended video recording or higher continuous burst rates may find the 2400 mAh capacity limiting compared to larger-capacity alternatives.

17.76 Wh per cell handles hundreds of stills.

A single 17.76 Wh cell comfortably powers several hundred still frames on a typical Alpha body. Continuous live-view shooting or 1080p video recording will reduce run time noticeably. The three-pack provides enough combined capacity for a full day of mixed stills and short clips, while built-in protection circuits guard against over-charge, over-discharge, over-voltage, over-current and over-heating.

Questions about this item

What charger do I need for the Kastar NP-FM500H batteries?

The batteries are compatible with the Sony BC-VM10 and AC-SQ950 chargers, which can charge each 7.4V 2400mAh pack.

Will the batteries work in my older Sony DSLR-A200?

Yes, the NP-FM500H packs are listed as compatible with the DSLR-A200 and other Alpha models from the A200 through A900 series.

How can I verify the safety circuits are active after installing a battery?

The built-in protection guards against over-charge, over-discharge, over-voltage, over-current and over-heating; the camera will power on and report the battery level normally when the circuits are functioning.
