Kastar NP-FV50 Wall Charger

The Kastar NP-FV50 is an AC wall charger built for Sony NP-FV series lithium-ion batteries. It suits owners of compatible Handycam, FDR-AX and HDR-PJ camcorders who need a compact mains-powered charging solution.

Practical Limits of the AC Interface

The charger accepts AC 100-240V at 50-60Hz and delivers DC 8.4V at 600mA. It charges one battery at a time and cannot power the camera directly while shooting. Users needing simultaneous multi-bay charging or camera pass-through power must look elsewhere.

Build Quality and Daily Use

A foldable flat plug reduces the charger's profile for transport and storage. Red and green LEDs show charging status and full-charge condition at a glance. The small enclosure fits easily in a camera bag without adding bulk.

Questions about this item

Which Kastar charger version should I pick for my NP-FV70 battery?

This NP-FV50 model charges NP-FV50, NP-FV70 and NP-FV100 batteries, so one unit covers all three capacities.

What does the 8.4 V 600 mA output mean when the charger is plugged in?

It delivers 8.4 volts at up to 600 milliamps, giving a steady trickle charge that fills a compatible Li-Ion pack without overheating.

Does the foldable flat plug work on both 100 V and 240 V mains?

Yes, the input range is AC 100–240 V 50–60 Hz, so the same charger operates worldwide with only a passive plug adapter.
