Two-pack Li-ion replacement

This two-pack supplies 7.2 V lithium-ion cells rated at 1650 mAh and 11.8 Wh each, matching the Sony NP-FW50 form factor. It fits a wide range of Alpha mirrorless, NEX and Cyber-shot bodies as well as compatible grips and chargers.

Capacity and headroom

Each cell delivers 11.8 Wh, giving noticeably longer run-times than lower-capacity alternatives for stills and video. Heavy continuous recording or cold conditions will drain the pack faster, so a spare is useful for all-day shoots.

Thermals, noise and power

The built-in protection circuit guards against over-charge, over-discharge, over-voltage, over-current and over-heating during normal operation. Cells meet UL 1642 and CE safety standards, run silently and add no audible noise to the camera.

Questions about this item

Will the Kastar NP-FW50 1650 mAh batteries work with my older Sony NEX-5 and NEX-7 bodies?

Yes, the pack is listed as compatible with NEX-5, NEX-5N, NEX-5R, NEX-5T, NEX-6 and NEX-7 models among many others.

How can I confirm the 7.2 V batteries are functioning correctly after I install them?

The camera should power on, show a full charge icon and operate normally; built-in protection circuits guard against over-charge, over-discharge, over-voltage, over-current and over-heating.

Does the box include a charger or only the two 11.8 Wh batteries?

The pack contains two NP-FW50 batteries; a compatible charger such as the Sony BC-VW1 or BC-TRW must be purchased separately.
