Four-pack NP-FW50 replacement batteries

This set supplies four lithium-ion cells rated at 7.2 V and 1 650 mAh each, giving 11.8 Wh per unit. They are direct replacements for the Sony NP-FW50 and work with a long list of Alpha, NEX, Cyber-shot and ZV mirrorless bodies as well as VG-C grips.

Charging limited to BC-VW1 and BC-TRW docks

The cells only accept charge from the two Sony chargers named in the compatibility list. No USB, no third-party dock and no in-camera charging are supported, so a spare charger must be carried for extended trips.

11.8 Wh per cell suits stills and short clips

Four packs deliver enough capacity for a full day of still photography or several short video takes. Continuous 4K recording or multi-hour time-lapse sessions will drain a single cell quickly, requiring a swap or an external power source.

Questions about this item

Should I buy the 4-pack or a single battery?

The 4-pack gives you four 1650mAh 11.8Wh cells so you can keep shooting while others charge; a single unit leaves you with no spare.

What does 1650mAh mean for daily shooting?

At 7.2V and 11.8Wh each cell typically delivers several hundred stills or over an hour of video on a Sony a6000-series body before needing a recharge.

Does the NP-FW50 work with the Sony BC-VW1 charger?

Yes — the pack is listed as compatible with the Sony BC-VW1 and BC-TRW chargers, so you can charge all four batteries on your existing dock.
