4K 30Hz HDMI Audio Extractor

The KEHIPI 4K 30Hz Grey media converter extracts digital audio from an HDMI source and outputs it through optical Toslink SPDIF or L/R stereo analog ports while passing the original video signal to an HDMI display. It is intended for users who need to connect a source such as a Fire Stick, Blu-ray player or game console to a soundbar, amplifier or AV receiver that lacks HDMI inputs.

HDMI 1.4b Interface Limits

The unit operates over HDMI 1.4b with HDCP 1.4 compliance, capping video throughput at 4K resolution and a 30 Hz refresh rate. It does not support ARC, so audio return from a television cannot be used. The three audio mode switches (PASS, 2CH, 5.1CH) only control the extracted output; the HDMI pass-through always carries the source's native audio format.

Capacity and Headroom

The extractor handles 36-bit deep colour and audio formats up to DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD and LPCM 7.1 on the HDMI pass-through path. Optical SPDIF output is limited to 5.1-channel Dolby Digital or DTS, while the L/R analog jacks deliver two-channel PCM only. A 5 V DC supply (4.9 V minimum) is required; the box includes a 5 V/1 A adaptor. The device measures 3.94 x 1.57 x 0.79 inches and weighs 5.93 ounces.
