MacBook dual-HDMI hub

The KEHIPI MOUC0423 8-IN-2 Docking Station is built for MacBook Pro and Air models from 2016 through 2020 that have two Thunderbolt ports on the same side. It plugs directly into those ports to add two HDMI outputs, three USB 3.0 ports, SD and Micro SD card slots, and a 100 W power-delivery pass-through. No drivers or software are required for operation.

Dual 4K output with M-chip limit

The two HDMI ports can run simultaneously, each capable of 4K at 60 Hz, though only one external monitor reaches 4K when both are connected. On Macs with M1 or M2 processors the hub supports only a single external display; the second HDMI output will stay dark. The three USB 3.0 ports deliver 5 Gbps transfer speeds and 900 mA power for peripherals, while the card slots handle SDXC and Micro SD media at up to 104 MB/s concurrently.

100 W charging headroom

The Thunderbolt pass-through port accepts up to 100 W of power delivery, keeping the host MacBook charged while the hub drives two displays and multiple accessories. Data transfer is not supported through the PD port. The compact aluminium housing measures 7.8 by 2.56 by 0.75 inches and weighs 3.2 ounces, making it suited to desk or travel use. Buyers needing dual 4K monitors on Apple silicon or more than three USB-A ports will find the hub does not meet those needs.

Questions about this item

Will the SD and TF card slots wear out and need replacement?

The slots are built into the hub and have no user-replaceable parts; if a slot fails the whole unit must be replaced.

What limits dual 4K output when the hub runs all day?

The hub can drive only one 4K display at 60 Hz; the second HDMI port is limited to 1080p.

How hot does the aluminium body get during continuous 100 W pass-through charging?

The casing warms noticeably but stays within normal operating temperature for a 3.2-ounce hub.
