Non-Destructive Moisture Detection

The KEHIPI NTK179 pinless moisture meter measures wood, drywall, plaster, concrete and masonry without puncturing the surface. It uses a rear sensing area to emit high-frequency electromagnetic waves, giving instant readings while leaving high-end materials free of pinholes or scratches. The unit ships new with three AAA batteries, a carry pouch and a user manual.

50 mm Penetration Depth

The sensing area covers 50 by 60 mm and reads moisture content from the surface down to 50 mm. Four selectable modes — softwood, hardwood, wall and masonry — calibrate the micro-processing chip for each material density, so the large colour LCD and analogue bar show accurate percentage values for the specific substrate being tested.

Hand-Held Site Tool

At 12.47 by 5.29 by 2.65 inches the meter fits a tool belt or the supplied pouch for quick checks across a job site. Battery power means no mains lead is needed, and the audible alarm sounds the moment a preset threshold is exceeded, letting you mark problem areas without constantly watching the screen. Builders who need invasive pin readings or data logging should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

What does the 0-50 mm measuring depth mean when I press it against a wall?

The sensor reads moisture from the surface down to 50 mm deep, so it detects dampness inside plaster, drywall or concrete without drilling holes.

How does the pinless sensor connect to the material — is there a wireless link?

No wireless link; the 50 mm by 60 mm sensing pad on the back must sit flat against the surface to emit and receive the electromagnetic waves that measure moisture.

Will the 12.47 in long body fit inside a standard tool bag?

At 12.47 in x 5.29 in x 2.65 in it fits most medium tool bags, and the included carry pouch is sized to hold the meter with batteries installed.
