Universal Docking Station

The Kensington K38240NA connects any laptop with USB-C or USB 3.0, supporting both Windows and Mac environments. It provides dual 2K display output through DisplayLink technology for M1 through M4 MacBooks and Windows PCs. The dock includes a 1M USB-C cable and delivers up to 60W power delivery to charge compatible laptops. It is designed for mixed fleets needing a single docking solution.

Thermals and Power

The unit operates from a 135W power supply that provides up to 60W laptop charging plus power for connected peripherals. Windows laptops must accept Power Delivery to charge through the dock. The dock runs without active cooling and produces no audible fan noise during normal operation. Power is distributed across five SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports and one 15W USB-C charging and data port.

Connectivity and Build

The black chassis includes one HDMI 2.0 port and one DisplayPort 1.2++ for dual monitor support at 2K 60Hz. Wired networking is handled by a gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 port. Audio uses a 3.5mm combination headphone and microphone jack. A Kensington lock slot provides physical security. Five USB 3.0 ports include one with 2.1A fast charging for mobile devices.

Questions about this item

How do I connect the K38240NA dock to my laptop using the included cable?

Plug the supplied 1 m USB-C cable into the dock's upstream port and your laptop's USB-C or USB-A port, then install the DisplayLink driver on macOS 11 or later and Windows 10 or later so the dual 2K outputs activate.

Which parts of the K38240NA will need replacement if they wear out?

The 1 m USB-C tether cable and the 135 W power adapter are the only field-replaceable items; the five USB 3.0 ports, the 15 W USB-C port, HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.2++, Gigabit Ethernet and audio jack are fixed on the unit.

What thermal or power limit appears first when the K38240NA runs both 2K displays at 60 Hz while charging a laptop at 60 W?

The 135 W supply caps total output, so sustained 60 W laptop charging plus dual 2K 60 Hz video and peripheral load leaves minimal headroom for additional high-draw USB devices.
