Purpose and audience

The Kensington K64538US MicroSaver is a keyed retractable security lock designed to protect notebooks from theft. It suits professionals and students who work in shared offices, libraries or public spaces and need a portable deterrent that travels with the device.

Behaviour under sustained load

The four‑foot retractable steel cable extends to anchor the notebook to a fixed object and retracts fully into the compact housing when not in use. The built‑in lock defense system resists tampering attempts over time, while the tempered steel security loop maintains its integrity through repeated daily locking and unlocking cycles.

Build quality and connectors

A black finish and compact form factor keep the unit unobtrusive in a travel bag. The unique T‑bar lock engages the standard Kensington security slot found on 99 percent of notebooks, so no adapter is required. The retractable mechanism coils the cable neatly, preventing tangles and reducing wear on both the cable and the lock body during everyday transport.

Questions about this item

Does the 4-foot retractable steel cable stay taut without sagging when the lock is left on a desk all day?

The cable retracts fully into the housing, so no loose length hangs or sags during extended use.

Must my notebook already have a Kensington security slot for this K64538US to work?

Yes, it requires the standard Kensington T-bar slot found on 99% of notebooks.

Will the tempered steel security loop fit the thinner chassis on my older ultrabook?

The T-bar design is built to engage the same slot profile used across generations of Kensington-compatible devices.
