Practical limits of the single-sided SAE/metric

The 1 3/16 in wide steel blade reads in one direction only, so the user must orient the tape for legible marks. Automatic return retracts the blade quickly, requiring control to prevent the hook from snapping against the case. Graduations stop at 1/16 in, limiting precision for fine joinery. The 25 ft length suits room-scale work but falls short for long-run site layout.
