Keson PD618N Diameter Tape
The Keson PD618N is a 6 ft diameter tape measure built for mechanics and pipe fitters who need to read a round object's diameter directly. Its steel blade carries two calibrated scales so the user does not have to divide circumference by pi. A molded rubber grip on the closed steel case keeps the tool secure in oily hands.
Sustained Use on Steel Pipe
The steel blade resists stretching over repeated pulls, so the 1/100 in and 1/16 in graduations stay accurate across long jobs. No lock mechanism means the tape retracts freely each time, reducing the chance of a jammed spring when dirt or coolant gets inside the case. The loop tip hooks over a pipe end without a second person holding the zero mark.
SAE Diameter Scale Limits
The blade is calibrated in units of pi, so it reports diameter only when the measured object is a true circle. Oval flanges, crushed conduit or irregular castings will give a reading that does not match any real dimension. The 1/4 in blade width and 6 ft length restrict use to pipes and cylinders that fit within that circumference range.

Questions about this item
Does the steel blade with 1/100 in and 1/16 in graduations stay readable after daily use in hot or dirty conditions?
The steel blade is calibrated in units of pi with 1/100 in marks on top and 1/16 in marks on the bottom, designed to resist wear in field conditions.
What tools or accessories are required to start measuring diameter with this Keson PD618N tape?
No extra tools are needed; the loop tip hooks onto pipe or cable and the 1/4 in wide steel blade wraps around to give a direct diameter reading.
Can the 6 ft blade replace a standard rule when checking older pipe sizes marked in inches?
Yes, the blade shows SAE diameter graduations in feet and inches, so you can verify legacy pipe dimensions without conversion.
