Hi-Fi DAC development board with ES9038Q2M chip supporting PCM 768 kHz and DSD 512 native, plus balanced RCA outputs and shielded analog circuits
The Khadas Tone2 Maker Kit is a high-fidelity digital-to-analog converter built around the ES9038Q2M DAC chip. It processes PCM up to 768 kHz and native DSD512 through an XMOS XU208 controller with 8 cores and 208 threads. Analog circuits are protected by an EMI shield for consistent signal integrity. The kit targets developers and DIY enthusiasts building custom audio hardware.
Engineers prototyping Hi-Res audio endpoints or evaluating the ES9038Q2M for production designs will find the expansion headers and optional VIN power input useful. OEM customers can access MQA-licensed firmware variants. Buyers who need a finished consumer DAC with a chassis, volume knob, or headphone amplifier should look at completed desktop audio products instead.
A 40-pin 2.54 mm GPIO header connects to VIM1S, VIM3, and VIM4 single-board computers after soldering a female connector onto the Tone2. A 14-pin 0.5 mm FPC header links to VIM3 and VIM4 through a separate T2V Extension Board. Verify which header matches your host board before purchasing.

No published specifications for this item yet.
The 40-pin header matches VIM3, but you must solder a female connector onto the Tone2 board first; the kit ships with male pins only.
Play a native DSD512 test file and check your player software shows the sample rate without DoP conversion; the XMOS XU208 reports the stream format to the OS.
The box contains the Tone2 Maker Kit board, an instruction manual, and a warranty card; any GPIO female header, FPC cable, T2V Extension Board, or external 1.2 mm VIN power supply must be purchased separately.
