A slimline 12-inch subwoofer with a four-layer voice coil and SoloKon cone handles 450 watts RMS in a shallow 11.1 cm mounting depth
The KICKER CVT12 is a slimline 12-inch car subwoofer built for installations where mounting depth is limited. Its four-layer voice coil and SoloKon cone handle serious power without the bulk of a standard driver. The 4 Ohm single voice coil configuration suits a wide range of amplifier setups. It is not for buyers who need a shallow-mount unit under 11 cm depth or a dual voice coil model for wiring flexibility.
Continuous output stays within the 225 to 450 watt RMS range, so the driver keeps its composure during extended bass passages rather than only brief peaks. The four-layer voice coil dissipates heat efficiently, reducing thermal compression when the system runs loud for long periods. Peak capability reaches 900 watts per ANSI/CTA-2031-A for short transients. It is not for systems that demand continuous output above 450 watts RMS without thermal risk.
The subwoofer performs best in a sealed box between 1 and 4.6 cubic feet or a ported box between 1.75 and 2.25 cubic feet, where airflow and box tuning keep the motor cool under load. Sensitivity of 87.1 dB at 1 watt and 1 metre means moderate amplifier power produces usable output, limiting excess current draw. Mounting depth of 11.1 cm fits tight spaces while the 28.1 cm cutout diameter is standard. It is not for free-air or infinite-baffle installations that lack enclosure loading.

The 4-ohm SVC design keeps impedance stable at 3.695 ohms DC resistance, and the 450-watt RMS thermal limit is rated for continuous use with proper enclosure loading.
An amplifier delivering 225 to 450 watts RMS into a 4-ohm load is required to match the subwoofer's recommended power range.
The minimum sealed volume is 1 cubic foot (27.9 L) and the mounting diameter is 11 inches (28.1 cm), so your existing box must meet or exceed those dimensions.
