Killark R-31 IMC Reducing Bushing

This threaded aluminum bushing connects 1/2 in and 1 in IMC or threaded RMC conduit in hazardous locations. It provides a female-to-male transition rated for Class I Division 1 and 2 Groups A through D and Class II Division 1 and 2 Groups E, F, G.

Hazardous-location rating and plain finish

The fitting carries Class I Zone 1 and 2 Groups IIC, IIB, IIA approvals alongside the Division ratings. Its plain aluminum surface requires no extra coating for the listed environments.

3/4 in overall length with 13/16 in height

The compact body fits tight enclosures while stepping down from 1 in to 1/2 in trade size. It is not suited for runs that demand a larger reduction or a different conduit material.

Questions about this item

Does the aluminum threads need anti-seize compound during installation?

The plain-finish aluminum threads on this 1/2 in FNPT x 1 in MNPT bushing can gall if assembled dry; a light coat of approved anti-seize prevents seizing during future maintenance.

At what ambient temperature does the hazardous-location rating become the limiting factor?

The Class I Division 1 Groups A–D and Class II Division 1 Groups E–G ratings hold up to the conduit’s maximum operating temperature; sustained loads beyond that temperature would violate the hazardous-location certification first.

How much heat does the bushing add when conduit runs continuously at full load?

The aluminum body dissipates heat through its 13/16 in height and 1 5/16 in width, adding negligible temperature rise compared with the conductors inside the IMC or threaded RMC raceway.
