High-Leverage Kevlar Snip
The Klein Tools 24000 is a spring-loaded hand snip designed for electricians, fibre-optic technicians and maintenance crews who regularly cut Kevlar® insulation, cordage, fabric and wire. Its high-leverage pivot reduces the force needed for each cut, while the self-opening spring returns the blades automatically for faster repetitive work.
Serrated blade and closure lock
One blade carries a serrated edge that grips slippery materials such as Kevlar® and synthetic cordage to prevent the workpiece from sliding during the cut. A built-in closure lock keeps the jaws shut when the tool is stored in a pouch or belt, protecting the cutting edges and preventing accidental opening.
Nickel-chrome corrosion resistance
The nickel-chrome plating resists rust and corrosion in damp or outdoor environments, extending the service life of the cutting edges. The tool carries a California Proposition 65 warning for chemicals known to cause cancer and reproductive harm, so users should follow standard workshop hygiene such as washing hands after prolonged handling.

Questions about this item
Does the spring-loaded mechanism on the 24000 snip require periodic lubrication or replacement?
The spring-loaded self-opening action is integral to the tool; no separate spring or lubrication schedule is specified by the manufacturer.
What limits continuous cutting of Kevlar insulation or wire with this snip?
The serrated blade provides non-slip cutting, but hand fatigue will occur before the nickel-chrome plating or pivot shows wear during sustained use.
Does the 24000 snip generate noticeable heat or vibration during all-day fiber optic work?
As a manual hand tool it produces no measurable heat or vibration; the spring-loaded action and ergonomic design reduce effort during repetitive cuts.
