Three-piece plier set for general gripping

The set contains three water-pump pliers made from chrome vanadium steel with a polished finish. Each tool uses a quick-adjust mechanism and a V-jaw profile that self-grips round and flat workpieces. The dipped handles provide a secure hold during use.

Quick-adjust jaws with tether points

Push the button to slide the jaw to the required width, then release to lock it in place. The thin jaw profile reaches into tight spots, but the maximum openings of 1 1/2 in, 2 in and 2 3/4 in limit the size of pipe or nut you can grasp. Tether-capable holes allow tool-lanyard attachment for work at height.

Insulated grips not rated for live circuits

The handles are insulated, yet the product is not certified for electrical work on energised parts. The three overall lengths of 7 1/4 in, 10 in and 12 in cover a range of leverage needs, but the largest jaw opening of 2 3/4 in may be insufficient for larger diameter fittings. California Proposition 65 warning applies.

Questions about this item

How do I know the self-gripping V-jaws are engaging correctly on a pipe?

The jaws should bite without slipping when the quick-adjust button is pressed and the handles are squeezed; a firm grip with no play means the mechanism is working.

What comes in the set and is anything else required to use them?

The set includes three water-pump pliers at 7 1/4 in, 10 in and 12 in overall length with dipped handles; no extra parts are needed for general use.

Which of the three pliers should I pick for a 2 3/4 in jaw opening?

Choose the 12 in plier — it provides the maximum 2 3/4 in jaw opening, while the 10 in opens to 2 in and the 7 1/4 in opens to 1 1/2 in.
