Rugged action camera for outdoor use

The Kodak PIXPRO WPZ2 is a 16MP waterproof camera built for snorkelling, skiing or hiking. It survives depths of 15 metres, drops from 2 metres and dusty environments. A 4x optical zoom covers 27 mm to 108 mm equivalents. Wi-Fi lets you transfer files to a phone.

Sensor and lens behaviour over long sessions

The 16.35MP BSI CMOS sensor records 1080p video at 30 fps or 720p at 60 fps. Optical zoom reaches 4x, extendable to 24x combined with 6x digital zoom. Aperture ranges from F3.0 at wide angle to F6.6 at telephoto. Shutter speeds run from 1/2000 second to 4 seconds, with a 30-second manual option. ISO spans 100 to 3200.

Simple setup with microSD storage

The camera charges its LB-015 lithium-ion battery inside the body via USB. Internal memory is only 8 MB, so a microSD or microSDHC card up to 32 GB is essential. Cards must be Class 4 or higher; MMC cards are not supported. A 2.7 inch LCD with 230K pixels frames shots and reviews footage.

Questions about this item

How long does the LB-015 battery last when recording 1080p video all day?

The 3.7V 700mAh Li-ion battery charges inside the camera; actual runtime varies with temperature, Wi-Fi use and LCD brightness, so carry a spare for full-day shoots.

What memory card do I need before the WPZ2 can store photos?

A microSD or microSDHC card rated Class 4 or higher, up to 32GB, is required because the internal memory holds only about 8MB.

Will my older computer with a USB 2.0 port read the MOV files from this camera?

Yes — the camera writes H.264 video in a MOV container with Linear PCM audio, a combination supported by standard media players on USB 2.0 systems.
