Historical strategy simulation for PC

NOBUNAGA'S AMBITION: Sphere of Influence - Ascension is a downloadable strategy game published by Koei Tecmo. The title adds Officer Play for the first time in the series, letting a player rise from retainer to Castle Lord and then to Daimyo. It is delivered as a Steam code and carries an ESRB Teen rating for mild blood, language and violence. The game targets players who enjoy deep historical simulation set in Japan's warring states period.

Runs on modest hardware with low sustained demand

Minimum requirements call for a Pentium 4 at 1.6 GHz, 1 GB of RAM and 128 MB of VRAM with DirectX 9.0c. Recommended specs ask for a multi-core processor and 512 MB of VRAM while keeping the same memory and DirectX baseline. These figures indicate the engine places light continuous load on the CPU and GPU, so frame rates remain stable during long campaign turns without thermal throttling on older systems. The title will not satisfy players who want high-fidelity 3D battles or real-time tactical control of large armies.

Steam DRM and Windows 7 through 10 support

The code activates on Steam and requires 5 GB of storage space. Supported operating systems are Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10; no native support for newer versions is listed. DirectX 9.0c is the graphics API ceiling, so the game cannot use modern rendering features or multi-threaded command buffers. Buyers who need macOS, Linux or console versions will not find them here.

Questions about this item

How much heat or fan noise does the downloadable code itself generate when the game runs all day?

The product is an online Steam code, not hardware, so it produces no heat or noise; any thermal load comes from your own PC meeting the Pentium 4 1.6 GHz minimum and 128 MB VRAM requirements.

What account or client must I already have to activate the KT0017 code?

A Steam account and the Steam client are required because the game uses Steam DRM for activation and play.

Will this strategy title install and launch on a machine still running Windows 7 or 8.1?

Yes — the minimum specs list Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 as supported operating systems.
