Duostrainer sink strainer

The Kohler K-8799-CP Duostrainer is a sink strainer designed for standard kitchen basins with 3-1/2-inch or 4-inch outlets. It features a removable basket with an open/close stopper that seals tightly to hold water. Solid brass construction provides durability and a polished chrome finish. The unit is sold without a tailpiece for separate purchase.

Ideal use cases

This strainer suits sinks requiring a flange and basket assembly with a manual stopper for filling the basin. It fits outlets measuring 3-1/2 inches or 4 inches. Buyers needing an included tailpiece or a different outlet diameter should look at other options.

Connection specification

The strainer connects via a 1-1/2-inch connection. This single dimension determines whether the part matches the existing plumbing underneath the sink. Verify the drain line size before ordering.

Questions about this item

Does the brass body of the K-8799-CP heat up noticeably when hot water runs through it all day?

The solid brass construction handles typical kitchen water temperatures without becoming excessively hot to the touch during continuous daily use.

My sink outlet measures 3-1/2 inches — is that the only part I need to install the K-8799-CP?

This unit includes the flange and strainer basket only; a separate 1-1/2 inch tailpiece and plumbing connections are required to complete the installation.

Will the polished chrome flange of the K-8799-CP match an older brushed-nickel faucet and drain trim?

Polished chrome has a bright, mirror-like finish that will visibly contrast with brushed nickel rather than blend in.
