Portable 1 TB USB-C SSD

The Kootion 2 in 1 accessory is a portable solid-state drive with 1 TB of capacity. It connects via USB-C using USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 and delivers sequential read speeds up to 2000 MB/s and write speeds up to 1800 MB/s. A metal enclosure and a removable silicone case provide shockproof and waterproof protection.

Creators and mobile professionals

This drive suits photographers, videographers and content creators who need fast external storage for high-resolution photos and 8K video editing on Windows, Mac, Linux or Android devices. The included USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB-A cables enable direct connection to laptops, smartphones, tablets and game consoles. Buyers who need an internal drive or a different capacity should consider other options.

USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 interface

The single specification that decides fit is the USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 connection, which requires a host port that supports this standard to reach the stated 2000 MB/s read and 1800 MB/s write speeds. Systems with only USB 3.2 Gen 2 or USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports will operate at lower throughput.

Questions about this item

How hot or loud does the all-metal body get when the drive runs at 2000MB/s all day?

The all-metal body provides excellent heat dissipation, keeping the drive cool during sustained 2000MB/s reads and 1800MB/s writes. With no moving parts, the SSD runs silently.

Which cable do I need on my laptop for the USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 port to hit 2000MB/s?

Use the included USB-C to USB-C cable with a host port that supports USB 3.2 Gen 2x2. The box also supplies a USB-C to USB-A cable for older ports, but speeds will drop to that port's limit.

Will the drive work with my older USB 3.0 Type-A laptop without extra adapters?

Yes. The supplied USB-C to USB-A cable plugs straight into a USB 3.0 Type-A port. The drive is backward compatible with Windows, Mac, Linux and Android, so it works immediately on older hardware.
