  • Tapered grip reduces wrist strain
  • 3-inch width suits joint-compound work

Stiff Scraper for Joint Compound

The Kraft Tool DW035 is a stainless-steel stiff scraper built for spreading and smoothing joint compound. Its 3-inch bent blade and pickled wood handle suit professional finishers and DIY renovators who need precise control on walls and ceilings.

Hand Pressure and Tool Balance

The tapered handle ends in a hammer head that lets the user apply firm pressure without wrist strain. Stainless steel resists corrosion during wet work, and the rigid blade transfers force evenly across the compound surface.

Replaces Worn or Flexible Blades

This tool upgrades from flexible putty knives that bow under load or from scrapers with cracked handles. The jump is worth it when a stiffer blade cuts finishing time on large patches or textured surfaces.

Questions about this item

How do I grip the tapered wood handle to keep the blade from twisting under pressure?

Hold the pickled wood handle near the flared end so the taper locks into your palm and the blade stays in line with the stroke.

Will the stainless steel blade or wood handle need replacement first with daily joint compound work?

The wood handle will absorb moisture and swell before the stainless blade dulls, so plan to replace the handle first.

At what point does the 9 1/4 in overall length stop giving leverage in tight corners?

When the handle hits the adjacent wall, the 9 1/4 in length prevents a full swing and you lose the mechanical advantage.
