DOTTIE HNT14 Hex Nut 1/4"-20

This DOTTIE HNT14 hex nut is a Grade 2 carbon steel fastener with a zinc-plated finish. It features a 1/4"-20 thread pitch and a height of 0.212 in. The component is supplied new for general fastening applications.

Suits repairs needing a standard coarse-thread nut

Builders who require a higher grade rating or a different thread diameter should select another part. The nut is not intended for structural loads that demand Grade 5 or Grade 8 strength. Buyers needing stainless steel or metric threads must look elsewhere.

Thread specification is 1/4"-20

The 1/4"-20 coarse thread determines compatibility with matching bolts or studs. Verify the thread pitch and diameter against the mating hardware before purchase. This single specification decides whether the nut fits the application.

Questions about this item

What size bolt or threaded rod do I need to pair with the 1/4"-20 hex nut?

The nut fits any 1/4"-20 bolt or threaded rod, so you must already have a matching 1/4"-20 male thread for it to work.

Will the Grade 2 zinc-plated nut gall or corrode when used with older stainless-steel or plain-steel bolts I have on hand?

Grade 2 carbon steel with zinc plating is compatible with both stainless and plain-steel bolts; the plating resists rust while the softer Grade 2 threads reduce galling risk.

After tightening the nut, how can I confirm the 0.212 in height is seated correctly?

Measure the exposed thread length above the nut; if it matches your calculated engagement minus the 0.212 in nut height, the nut is fully seated.
