Qualitative Filter Paper 12.5 cm Discs
This qualitative filter paper comes as 12.5 cm diameter discs made from cellulose. The medium-slow porosity and 8 micron pore size suit gravity filtration of gases and liquids in laboratory workflows. Each pack contains 100 discs for routine analytical tasks.
Replaces slower or coarser filter grades
Switching from a faster or larger-pore grade is worthwhile when finer particle retention is needed without moving to vacuum-assisted hardware. The Grade 2 rating indicates a balance of flow rate and clarity for standard qualitative separations. It does not meet quantitative ashless requirements.
Limited by gravity flow and pore uniformity
The 0.17 mm thickness and fixed 8 micron pores restrict throughput on viscous or high-solids samples. Gravity-driven filtration cannot be accelerated without risking breakthrough or media rupture. The discs are not fluted, so surface area remains flat and uncreased.

Questions about this item
Will the 12.5 cm disc sit flat in a standard Büchner funnel?
The disc is 12.5 cm in diameter and 0.17 mm thick with no fluting so it sits flat in any funnel that accepts that size
Do I need to wet the cellulose disc before pouring the slurry or can I pour dry?
Wet the disc with a few millilitres of the filtrate first; pouring slurry onto dry cellulose often traps air and slows the 8 µm flow
How many 12.5 cm discs come in the pack and when should I swap a used one?
The pack contains 100 discs; replace a disc when flow drops noticeably or the cake builds up past the 8 µm pore rating
