Internal LTE Cat 4 modem with external antenna for Verizon on LM80/LM83X
The Lantronix LM80/LM83X internal modem delivers LTE CAT 4 connectivity on the Verizon network. It is built for integrators adding cellular backhaul to fixed or mobile equipment. The package includes an external antenna for improved signal reception. Wired connectivity is provided through an RJ-45 interface.
This unit replaces legacy 3G modems or single-carrier hardware that cannot access Verizon LTE bands. The jump is worth it when devices require higher throughput and lower latency on a certified Verizon module. It supports the LM80 and LM83X platforms directly without adapter cables. The external antenna ensures reliable link quality in marginal coverage areas.
Under continuous load the modem maintains a stable LTE CAT 4 link through the supplied external antenna. The wired RJ-45 connection avoids wireless hop variability during long data sessions. Thermal performance is consistent inside the host enclosure without active cooling. The Verizon-certified firmware handles extended keep-alive cycles without reset.

The modem is designed as an internal card for the LM80 or LM83X chassis; the external antenna connects via the supplied cable and mounts outside the enclosure for signal reception.
Connect the antenna cable to the modem’s RF connector, route the cable through the chassis opening, then secure the antenna base externally; the step often missed is tightening the connector fully to avoid signal loss.
Replace the antenna or cable if the connector is corroded, the cable jacket is cracked, or signal strength drops persistently after ruling out account or tower issues.
