What the product is

This is a single matte-black adhesive hook supplied with one large Command strip. It is designed for renters, dorm residents or anyone who wants to hang lightweight items without drilling holes or leaving residue on walls, doors or cabinets.

The deciding specification

The hook is rated to hold up to 4 lb when the strip is applied to a clean surface at an indoor temperature between 50 and 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Exceeding that weight or applying outside the temperature range will cause the bond to fail.

How it fits into a space

The strip bonds to painted drywall, wood, tile, metal or glass after cleaning with rubbing alcohol, freeing you from tools and permanent fixings. It cannot be used on fresh paint for seven days, on wallpaper, or above beds, and the hook itself is reusable only when a replacement strip is purchased.

Questions about this item

How much weight does the hook actually hold once it is stuck on the wall?

The single matte-black hook is rated for 4 lb when the adhesive strip is applied to a clean, dry surface and allowed to bond fully.

What adhesive system does the strip use and what does it limit?

It uses a 3M Command adhesive strip that bonds without tools and removes cleanly, but it will not stick to wallpaper or freshly painted walls until the paint has cured for seven days.

What surface preparation and temperature range are needed for the strip to mount securely?

Wipe the area with rubbing alcohol to remove dust and oils, then apply only when the indoor temperature is between 50 and 105 degrees Fahrenheit.
