What this shade is

This Laura Ashley Juliette drum shade is a new replacement for a table or floor lamp. It uses a striped raw-silk fabric and a chrome spider fitter. The shade measures 12 top, 14 bottom and 9.5 slant height. It belongs to the Juliette collection launched by a brand established in 1953.

Who it suits and who should look elsewhere

It suits owners who want a direct-fit drum shade with a striped raw-silk finish and a chrome spider fitter. Buyers needing a different fitter type, a non-drum profile, a solid colour or a larger bottom diameter should look elsewhere. A new harp may be required for correct fit.

The specification that decides fit

The chrome spider fitter and the 14 bottom width are the critical dimensions. Measure the existing shade and harp before ordering to confirm compatibility with the 12 top and 9.5 slant height.

Questions about this item

How often should the raw-silk fabric be cleaned or replaced?

Dust the raw-silk surface gently with a soft brush; the shade itself has no replaceable parts, so replacement is only needed if the fabric tears or fades.

What limits continuous use with a high-wattage bulb?

The 12" top and 9.5" slant height restrict airflow around the bulb, so sustained high heat can scorch the raw silk or warp the drum shape.

Does the chrome spider fitter get hot or make noise during all-day operation?

The metal spider conducts heat from the bulb but runs silently; expect it to become warm to the touch after several hours of use.
