8-16V AC Brass Mortise Strike

The Lee Electric mortise strike accepts 8-16 volt AC power and fits wood or metal jambs. Its flat brass face plate measures 7-15/16 by 1-7/16 inches and the mortise cavity is 1/2 inch deep by 9/16 inch wide by 1-1/2 inches high. A backset of 1-9/16 inches and an auxiliary ramp of 2-7/8 inches suit locksets with up to 5/8 inch throw on a 1/8 inch door gap. Installers needing a different voltage range or a radius face will need another model.

Installation notes

Mortise the jamb to the listed cavity dimensions and secure the strike with the supplied screws; the auxiliary lever ramp aligns automatically with dead-locking latchbolts. A common error is leaving the door gap wider than 1/8 inch, which prevents the 5/8 inch throw from engaging fully. No special tools are required beyond a chisel and drill, but the strike is not designed for surface-mounted or rim-type applications.

Continuous duty behaviour

The coil is rated for intermittent AC energising; holding the strike open continuously will raise coil temperature beyond the design intent. Under normal access-control cycles the brass face and internal mechanism show no measurable wear.
