12V DC permanent-magnet motor
The Leeson 108047.00 is a 12V DC permanent-magnet motor rated at 1/2 HP and 800 RPM. It fits a 56C face or base mount with a 5/8 in shaft and 1 7/8 in shaft length. The totally enclosed non-ventilated housing suits industrial and mobile equipment where airflow is limited. Insulation class H allows operation up to 40 °C ambient.
Capacity and headroom
At full load the motor draws 39.0 A and delivers 17.5 in-lb of torque. The carbon-brush design and ball bearings support continuous duty within the thermal limits of the enclosure. Without built-in thermal protection the installer must provide external overload safeguarding. Brush wear and commutator life set the practical ceiling for extended high-load cycles.
Removable base and CW/CCW rotation
The removable base lets the unit switch between face-mount and foot-mount configurations without extra parts. Reversible CW/CCW rotation is achieved by swapping the DC supply polarity, simplifying direction changes in conveyors, pumps or HVAC actuators. No encoder, brake or gearbox is included.

Questions about this item
Will the 56C frame and 5/8-inch shaft match my existing 56C gearbox?
The motor uses a standard 56C face with a 5/8-inch diameter shaft that is 1 7/8 inches long, so it bolts directly to most 56C gearboxes and couplings.
How can I verify the motor delivers the rated 800 RPM and 17.5 in-lb torque after installation?
Run the motor at 12 V DC and measure shaft speed with a tachometer; it should read about 800 RPM. At full load the current draw should be near 39.0 A, confirming 17.5 in-lb torque.
Does the box include mounting bolts, a power cable or a speed controller?
The motor ships with the removable base installed and carbon brushes fitted. Mounting bolts, DC power cables and a speed controller are not included and must be sourced separately.
