Application & Fit

This galvanised union connects two lengths of 1-1/2 inch female NPT pipe in residential or light-commercial plumbing systems. The zinc-coated steel body resists general corrosion while the union nut allows quick disassembly for service or reconfiguration. It is supplied new and ready for thread-sealant application.

Who It Suits

Installers joining galvanised pipe runs where periodic separation is required will find the FNPT x FNPT layout convenient. It is not suited for potable-water lines that demand lead-free brass or stainless alloys, nor for high-pressure steam or aggressive chemical services that attack zinc coatings. Buyers needing a dielectric break between dissimilar metals should select a different fitting.

Deciding Specification

The single detail that confirms fit is the 1-1/2 inch nominal pipe size with female National Pipe Taper threads on both ends. Match this exactly to the existing pipe schedule and thread standard before ordering.

Questions about this item

Will the 1-1/2" galvanized threads mate with my existing iron pipe fittings?

The union uses FNPT threads on both ends, so it connects directly to standard 1-1/2" male NPT pipe or nipples you already have.

How can I confirm the union is sealed correctly after installation?

Pressurize the line and check the joint; a properly seated gasket inside the union nut will show no water escaping at the connection.

Does the box include the union gasket or must I buy it separately?

The union is supplied complete with its internal gasket; no extra sealing parts are required for assembly.
