Copper 90° Elbow for 4" Pipework

This 90-degree copper elbow connects two 4-inch inner-diameter pipes in a straight directional change. The fitting uses a C x C sweat joint on both ends so installers can solder it directly into copper plumbing systems. It is suited to residential and light-commercial water-supply layouts that require a tight right-angle turn.

Sustained-pressure behaviour

The copper construction resists corrosion and handles continuous water pressure without deformation. Sweat joints create a permanent seal that does not relax under thermal cycling or vibration. No maintenance is required after installation provided the joint was properly cleaned and soldered.

Pre-installation checks

Verify that the existing pipework has a 4-inch inner diameter and 4-1/8-inch outer diameter to match the elbow dimensions. Confirm local codes permit copper sweat fittings for the intended application. Note the Proposition 65 warning regarding chemicals known to cause cancer and reproductive harm.

Questions about this item

Will the 4-inch copper 90-degree elbow generate noise or heat when water runs through it all day?

The copper fitting is passive and produces no noise or heat of its own; any sound comes from water velocity in the pipes, and the metal simply conducts the water temperature.

What existing pipework must I already have to install this 4-inch C x C elbow?

You need two lengths of 4-inch copper tubing ready for sweat soldering, plus flux, lead-free solder, a torch and cleaning tools to make the C x C joints.

Can I join this 90-degree elbow to older copper pipe that has been in the wall for years?

Yes, the C x C ends accept standard 4-inch copper tube, so clean, undamaged legacy pipe of the same nominal size will solder directly to the fitting.
