Kit contents and typical use

This kit provides one transmitter and two receivers for sending a single HDMI source to two displays over standard network cabling. It is suited for installers, AV integrators or home users who need to distribute 1080p video from a set-top box, Blu-ray player or game console to screens in separate rooms without running long HDMI leads.

Cabling and expansion

Each unit connects through an RJ45 port using UTP or STP Cat5, Cat5e or Cat6 cable, with reach of 80 m on Cat5, 100 m on Cat5e and 120 m on Cat6 at 1080p 60 Hz. The transmitter encodes the signal to standard TCP/IP, so additional receivers can be added through a LAN router or switch, and an extra router hop extends the path by another 120 m. Both transmitter and receiver require the included DC 5 V 1 A supply.

Sustained operation

The hardware is rated for continuous 7×24 hour use at ambient temperatures from 0 to 60 °C, drawing 3.5 W at the transmitter and 3 W per receiver. M-JPEG compression keeps latency low while preserving full HD detail across the supported resolutions from 480i up to 1080p at 50 or 60 Hz. HDCP compatibility ensures protected content passes through without interruption during extended sessions.
