Dual-port 10 GbE SFP+ network adapter using the Intel X710-DA2 controller in ML2 form factor
The Lenovo 00JY940 X710-DA2 ML2 adapter adds two 10GbE SFP+ ports to a compatible server chassis. It targets administrators upgrading rack-mount systems that accept the ML2 form factor. Builders needing a standard PCIe bracket or more than two ports should select a different card.
The card draws power from the ML2 slot and relies on the host system airflow for cooling. With a mass of 0.55 kg it adds minimal load to the chassis. No active fan is present so acoustic output depends entirely on the server fans.
The ML2 edge connector aligns with dedicated server bays, eliminating the need for a full-height bracket. This mechanical match secures the SFP+ cages directly to the chassis rear panel. Systems without an ML2 aperture cannot install this adapter.

Align the card with the ML2 connector, press firmly until seated, then secure the retention screw; the step often missed is fastening that screw before powering on.
Dust the heatsink and SFP+ ports periodically; replace the transceiver modules if link errors appear or speed drops below 10 GbE.
Thermal throttling is the first limit; the compact ML2 form factor relies on chassis airflow to keep the Intel X710 controller within temperature spec.
