Essential replacement for ThinkPad X1 Carbon

This 90W AC adapter delivers 20V at 1.5A for the ThinkPad X1 Carbon. It ships as a complete kit with the slim-tip adapter, an AC power cord and a safety information poster. The unit is new and carries ThinkPad branding.

Slim rectangular tip limits interchangeability

The fixed rectangular slim-tip plug fits only models that accept this specific connector. It cannot be used with older barrel-style or USB-C ThinkPad chargers. Energy Star V compliance indicates efficient operation at the rated 90W output.

Straightforward swap with one common pitfall

Installation is a direct plug-in: connect the AC cord to the adapter, insert the slim tip into the laptop and plug into mains power. The most frequent issue is attempting to use the adapter on a system that requires a different tip geometry or a higher wattage rating.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 90W version or a lower-wattage adapter for my X1 Carbon?

The 90W unit matches the original specification for ThinkPad X1 Carbon models that require 20V at 1.5A; a lower-wattage adapter may not supply enough power under load.

Will this 90W adapter charge the laptop while I am using it for heavy workloads?

Yes, the 20V 1.5A output delivers the full 90W the X1 Carbon expects, so the battery charges even during demanding tasks.

What does the rectangular slim-tip connector mean for compatibility with my X1 Carbon?

The fixed slim-tip plug is the current ThinkPad connector standard for the X1 Carbon, ensuring a secure fit and proper power negotiation.
