ThinkPad T460 refurbished laptop

The Lenovo ThinkPad T460 is a 14.0-in refurbished laptop built for office work and study. An Intel Core i5-6300U processor at 2.40 GHz and 16 GB of DDR3 memory run Windows 10 Home 64-Bit. A 1 TB SATA SSD provides fast boot and file access without moving parts.

Sustained workload behaviour

The integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 handles desktop applications and video playback without a discrete GPU. Under continuous load the U-series processor maintains its base frequency within the slim 0.83-in chassis. The 1 TB SSD keeps read and write speeds consistent during long sessions because it has no mechanical platters to slow down.

Deciding specification

The single figure that decides fit is the 16 GB DDR3 memory soldered to the board; the system supports up to 32 GB but only one slot is user-accessible. Buyers who need more memory headroom or a touchscreen should look elsewhere because this unit has neither.

Questions about this item

How much fan noise or heat should I expect from the Core i5-6300U and Intel HD Graphics 520 during all-day use?

The 2.40 GHz dual-core processor and integrated graphics run at low power, so the laptop stays quiet and only warm under typical office workloads.

Which cables or peripherals must I already own to use this T460 out of the box?

The AC adapter is included; the only essentials you may need are a wired mouse or external keyboard if you prefer them over the built-in trackpad and keyboard.

Can I keep my older SATA 2.5" SSD or DDR3 SODIMM modules and use them in this machine?

Yes — the storage bay accepts a SATA 2.5" drive and the two memory slots take DDR3 SODIMMs up to 32 GB total.
